Eternal Damnation and Such

Today on my way to work I found myself mesmerized by nature’s beauty. I mean, there I was, sandwiched between complete strangers on the bus and although I usually take such times and go to my “happy place” my eye caught something in the sky and I was transfixed by the image. Amidst the grayness of the day, in amongst the clouds was a hole that let in the sunlight and it was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen. The rays of sunlight that illuminated everything below reminded me of those religious pictures I saw as a kid, you know, where someone’s religious awakening is depicted as being enlightened by God’s light? No, you’ve never seen them? Hmm, maybe it was just my church.
Now, I’m not a religious person but it’s funny how certain images can become synonymous with religious symbolism. Honestly, the sky was so dark and cloudy that when the sunlight appeared and reflected on the buildings below I thought to myself “Oh no, it’s the Rapture.” Which was quickly followed by: “Damn, I’m toast.”
