Forty years, and counting...

June 11th is my parents' fortieth wedding anniversary (Yay for them!) and we are all going up to Ottawa to spend a fun weekend in a hotel with an indoor water park. (For the kiddies and for The Herb, who's a pool whore.)
After spending last weekend at their place in Noyan I now understand the true meaning of the saying "bickering like an old married couple." It's not that it's bad or anything, just sometimes annoying and I suppose if I too spent forty years with the same person I would act the exact same way. I guess when you know someone for that long you know everything about them, you know what I mean? Every little personality defect is known to the other person and it occurs to me that must be a really hard thing to come to grips with. I mean honestly, I like a little mystery in my life and I would rather be enigmatic than a open book. I have tried in past romantic relationships to stay true to this and whether it worked positively or negatively is an unanswered question. (Although, perhaps the fact that these relationships ended is my answer afterall.)
Any-hoo.

Back to my parents.

Congratulations Mom and Dad on 40 years! Woohoo! Thanks for the memories.
